Pellet Boiler
Pellet Boiler
TEG offers a low maintenance Pellet Boiler that is a clean and cost effective system. Pellets are made out of wood by-products and other waste streams allowing more complete and effective utilization of our resources. When the wood waste is dried and pressed together in a pellet mill the pressure and temperature cause lignin, which is a natural polymer of wood, to bind the wood fibers and give it a shiny look. This pelletized fuel is very consistent, homogeneous, easy to transport and store.

Pellets are usually available in places where good quality wood-waste is in ample supply. Due to the low moisture content, pellets cannot freeze and can be stored in silos without any precautions. The pellets are transported from the silos to a bin at the boiler by a simple auger system, similar to the systems used in poultry and pig barns. The pellets are discharged from the bin onto the burner bed by a dosing system. The boiler has a computerized stand-alone control system and can also be hooked up to a greenhouse climate computer.
The pellets are burned in a large water cooled combustion chamber. The flue gasses are sucked through the heat exchanger by an I.D. fan. The boiler design allows for good accessibility for cleaning inspection and maintenance purposes. Flue gases exiting the boiler can be cleaned by a high efficiency cyclone or scrubber depending on local
emission rules and legislations. Due to the boiler/burner's simple compact construction, the system is reliable and maintenance requirements are very low.
The pellet system make it an easy and attractive concept for companies to switch over to a CO2 neutral solution. It is called a CO2 neutral fuel because a tree takes up CO2 out of the atmosphere as it grows and releases the CO2 again when it breaks down or is burned. Unlike fossil fuels, it is not adding extra CO2 into the environment.
Especially in times where prices of fossil fuels are very volatile and one has to deal with expensive peak demands, wood pellets are a viable solution.
And finally there is a modular flue gas cleaning solution. This can replace the cyclone option. Module 1 of the system scrubs the particles out of the flue gases and in the second module the NOx and SOx are taken out. The NOx can almost be as low as zero! Module 3 treats the CO2 up to a 99% purity, this CO2 can be dosed straight into the greenhouse,
which is a unique feature on wood fired boilers! With regards to the CO2 and NOx trade emissions this can be very useful because of the carbon credits that can be obtained. This complies with the Kyoto protocol and (inter)national goals to cut down on CO2 emissions and dependency on fossil fuels.
